Drawings

"Drawing is making hypotheses about the place of things. It is making form become form."

"I wrote a sentence one day; I write in the evening, I tear it up in the morning anyway. It was: "Do painting until the moment when it could become painting but draw as one plays the piano". That means drawing like a virtuoso for the simple joy, for pleasure and even for exercise and making sure to stop painting at the moment when it could be too advanced, too beautiful, too strong, too accomplished. I don't say too finished but too accomplished, where everything would be said."
